The Santa Barbara Barristers are hosting a CLE event on September 29, 2015, titled: Beware the Family Law Landmines: The Basic Family Law Concepts Every Non-Family Law Practitioner Should Know presented by Drew Maley. The event will be held at the Santa Barbara College of law from 12:15-1:15 pm.

Family law traps can lurk in any representation where a client is contemplating marriage, legal separation, or divorce. This presentation will cover some of the unique substantive ways that California family law proceedings such as premarital agreements, marital agreements, and marital dissolutions differ from those matters governed by civil bodies of law. The presentation will also help attorneys spot the latent family law issues that may become complications for clients in non-family law representations and/or result in professional liability for non-family law attorneys.

Drew Maley is a family law attorney with Price, Postel & Parma. His practice focuses on family law and civil litigation at the trial and appellate levels. Prior to coming home to Santa Barbara in January 2015, he was an associate at the boutique family law firm of Brian J. Kramer in Los Angeles. He holds a J.D. cum laude from Northwestern University School of Law. Firm Bio: https://www.ppplaw.com/people/detail/drew-maley.
